ARIZONA TRAINING CAMP

Want to get a great block of training and learning to lead into the upcoming race season? 

Well look no further. 

Here are the details:
7 day camp in Arizona based out of Scottdale AZ from April 9th-16th, 2016

Here is the proposed itinerary for the camp (subject to changes):

Saturday April 9th - Saturday April 16th
Saturday April 9th: Arrival/ Bike Set Up/Meet and Greet Orientation/ - Education: Preparation mobility and recovery techniques Part 1
Sunday 10th:  Swim (technique and film session)/Easy ride in the AM (ride handling and safety focus) - Education - Long session Nutrition
Monday 11th: AM Swim/AM Ride/PM Education - Swim analysis and improvement plan
Tuesday 12th: AM Hill Run (form focus)/PM Ride Education -Education - Creating You Mental Plan For Success Part 1
Wednesday 13th:  AM Open Water Swim/bike Session - Shopping day pm
Education - Creating You Mental Plan For Success Part 2
Thursday 14th: AM Longer Run / PM Easy Bike Session - Education - Recovery Techniques Part 2
Friday 15th: Open Water Swim/ PM Bike - Education - Simplifying the debrief
Saturday 16th: Depart…

There will be opportunities on certain days to vary the sessions (for example on Saturday there will be time for an additional ride)

Cost of the camp includes:  

  • 7 nights lodging in Scottsdale and airport shuttle
  • Rental bike (Specialized Roubaix Road bike) - upgraded bike options available upon request. 
  • Guided cycling with full sag van support - rides will vary in distance from approximately 50-100km!
  • Transportation while in Scottsdale
  • Sport specific coaching in swim (open water and underwater swim analysis and copy of the video), bike, and run
  • Education and training sessions each day on mental preparation, nutrition, recovery, and debrief planing to help improve your performance

8:15am - meet in front of main beach at Echo Lake

8:00-9:30am - Open water swimming technique practice - entering and exiting the water, sighting and drafting basics. We will have a modified course (~200m) set up so you can practice your newly learned skills in small groups of no more than 10 swimmers with a coach paddling beside you the whole way giving feedback.

PLEASE BRING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR SWIMMING: towel, wetsuit (if you have one), goggles, bathing suit or tri suit, swim cap)

This clinic is for you! This 3 hour clinic will teach you how to run more efficiently and with less effort, with correct posture, and alignment, and with more focus.  This is for ALL levels of runners.  These fundamentals are understood and accepted as being essential for any distance and speed of running as well as any sport, age group, and gender.

The principles of any endurance event are based on energy efficiency, proper biomechanics, and appropriate volume and intensity of training for your fitness level and goals.  By aligning your body in a forward direction, engaging a strong core, and then relaxing, running becomes effortless.

We cover:

  • posture, head to toe
  • running efficiently and relaxed
  • pacing
  • cadence
  • proper warm up and warm down
  • strengthening
  • hills
  • nutrition

  • video analysis of your technique

7:45am - meet in front of main beach change rooms at Regina Beach

8:00-9:30am - Open water swimming technique practice - entering and exiting the water, sighting and drafting basics. We will have a modified Regina Beach Tri course (~200m) set up so you can practice your newly learned skills in small groups of no more than 10 swimmers with a coach paddling beside you the whole way giving feedback.

9:30-10:00am - Work on transitions - go through T1 (swim to bike) and T2 (bike to run) specific to the Regina Beach Course. We will provide you with tips and tricks to make your transition a time saver not a time waster.

10:00-11:00am - Go for a run to get orientated to the Regina Beach run course plus discuss pacing and fueling for the race.

PLEASE BRING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR SWIMMING: towel, wetsuit (if you have one), goggles, bathing suit or tri suit, swim cap)

TRANSITION: bike helmet, bike shoes, small towel to dry feet

RUNNING GEAR - hat, running shoes, shorts, shirt, sunscreen, water.

HYDRATION/NUTRITION - as needed
