2017 Okanagan Falls TRAINING CAMP

Want to get a great block of training and learning to lead into the upcoming race season? 

Well look no further. Endurance Journey has your training and racing preparation covered! 

The purpose of this camp is to provide you with a fantastic training environment with expert coaching and education so you can get the most out of this high volume training week with the opportunity to race at the end of the camp. We make sure your needs are taken care of during the camp so you can focus on training and racing!

Here are the details:
6 day camp in OK Falls, BC from May 29th-June 4th, 2017

Coaching Provided by Endurance Journey Coaching and Balance Point Racing.

Space is limited to 15 athletes!

The itinerary for the camp (subject to changes):

Training Schedule - Each day there will be a pre session mobility/activation session with the group to prepare for the rides/race. Ride distances can be modified based on rider ability and needs. 

Monday Arrive - we check in at 4pm light technique run followed by a mobility session Group supper ~7pm

Tuesday - Anarchist mountain Ride a.m. (~120km) + Nutrition education session + Open Water Swim p.m.  + Group Supper ~6pm

Wednesday - Bike - Ironman Canada course (180km) + optional run after + Recovery mobility session + Group Supper ~6pm

Thursday - Apex Mountain Ride a.m. (~100km)+ Open Water Swim + Race mental preparation session + Group Supper ~6pm

Friday - Naramata ride - easy (~80km) + wineries + Supper at Winery (Camp participants responsible for cost of the meal)

Saturday - Optional Sprint or Olympic Race; Others complete the Ok Falls Camp Bike Route easy ride (~40km) (a.m.) + optional swim after (p.m.) to help recover + Group Supper ~6pm

Sunday - Oliver Half Iron Race.  Optional ride/run available if not racing (TBA). Transportation and race support provided + Group Supper ~6pm

Monday - departure - transport to airport or other travel arrangement

NOTE: This is a tentative agenda - there will be opportunities on certain days to vary the sessions.

Cost of the camp includes:  

  • 7 nights lodging in Ok Falls condos (double occupancy rooms with full kitchens) and airport shuttle.
  • Lunches, snacks, and fluid replacements and gourmet suppers - See below for more details.
  • Guided cycling with full sag van support (Snacks, fluids, mechanical support)- rides will vary in distance from approximately 60-180km. Modified distances available if requested. 
  • Transportation while in OK Falls
  • Sport specific coaching in swim (open water swim, bike, and run)
  • Education and training sessions on mental preparation, nutrition, recovery, and race planning planing to help improve your performance
  • Race day coaching and support
  • Endurance Journey Limited Edition Camp cycling jersey!

Lunch Details

Gourmet lunch would include high end products, highlighting organic/whole food meals designed for health-focused athletes! Specifically catered for this group, each lunch would feature a sandwich/wrap, a side or salad, desert & beverage (Gluten free, vegan &/or vegetarian exceptions can easily be accommodated).

Also included are gourmet, high energy/whole food energy snacks available in the sag vehicle at all times and for post-ride.

Supper Details

Gourmet Dinner would include high end products, highlighting organic/whole food (nothing processed) meals designed for health-focused athletes! Specifically catered for this group, each meal would feature a main course meat (steak, etc), 2 sides, a salad, bread & desert (Gluten free, vegan &/or vegetarian exceptions can easily be accommodated).

Not included in Camp Fee

  • Transportation to and from Camp
  • Meals outside of planned group lunches, and suppers. Athletes will be responsible for their own breakfast. 
  • Bike Rental Optional for additional cost (~$50.00/day) - contact Coach Patrick at patrick@endurancejourney.com if you are interested in renting a bike. 
  • Oliver Race Registration

Cost (Taxes Inclusive):  
$1500.00 Based Double Occupancy (Queen or Twin Bed).

50% deposit required to secure spot ($750). Remaining $750.00 required by March 1st, 2017. 

Deposit is non-refundable. 

Cancel before March 13th, 2017, refunded all but the 50% deposit.

Endurance Journey is not responsible for fees associated with planning your trip, such as airfare, milage, car rentals, etc.

8:00-9:30am - Open water swimming technique practice - entering and exiting the water, sighting and drafting basics. We will have a modified course (~200m) set up so you can practice your newly learned skills in small groups of no more than 10 swimmers with a coach paddling beside you the whole way giving feedback.

PLEASE BRING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR SWIMMING: towel, wetsuit (if you have one), goggles, bathing suit or tri suit, swim cap)

This clinic is for you! This 3 hour clinic will teach you how to run more efficiently and with less effort, with correct posture, and alignment, and with more focus.  This is for ALL levels of runners.  These fundamentals are understood and accepted as being essential for any distance and speed of running as well as any sport, age group, and gender.

The principles of any endurance event are based on energy efficiency, proper biomechanics, and appropriate volume and intensity of training for your fitness level and goals.  By aligning your body in a forward direction, engaging a strong core, and then relaxing, running becomes effortless.

7:45am - meet in front of main beach change rooms at Regina Beach

8:00-9:30am - Open water swimming technique practice - entering and exiting the water, sighting and drafting basics. We will have a modified Regina Beach Tri course (~200m) set up so you can practice your newly learned skills in small groups of no more than 10 swimmers with a coach paddling beside you the whole way giving feedback.

9:30-10:00am - Work on transitions - go through T1 (swim to bike) and T2 (bike to run) specific to the Regina Beach Course. We will provide you with tips and tricks to make your transition a time saver not a time waster.

10:00-11:00am - Go for a run to get orientated to the Regina Beach run course plus discuss pacing and fueling for the race.

PLEASE BRING APPROPRIATE CLOTHING FOR SWIMMING: towel, wetsuit (if you have one), goggles, bathing suit or tri suit, swim cap)

TRANSITION: bike helmet, bike shoes, small towel to dry feet

RUNNING GEAR - hat, running shoes, shorts, shirt, sunscreen, water.

HYDRATION/NUTRITION - as needed
