Goals are just an idea.
These are the 5 habits that will help you create a system to achieve the endurance event result you are after.
1. Be prepared - get your gear/equipment ready the day before, know your training session plan, block out the time in your daily calendar.
2. Create a Repeatable Routine - same sleep and wake time each day, create a repeatable daily training schedule, training time is non-negotiable (make time to get it done).
3. Consistency matters most - the day after day training will have the greatest impact on your results, make sessions shorter if short on time (don’t skip them), track your progress in a diary/app each day to monitor your progress.
4. Daily water and protein intake - aim to consume ~3-4 litres of water, 1 gram of protein per pound of body weight per day (1).
5. The Right Training Mix - a well designed program will help you improve your: event sport performance, strength, mobility and flexibility, and recovery. These improvements will be a result of repetition and progression built into the design of your training sessions.
Key Takeaway:
A goal is an idea of what you can look, feel, and perform like.
A group of habits creates a SYSTEM.
A SYSTEM OF HABITS done daily will help make this goal happen.
